Prospective students

My research is theory- and simulation-heavy. Interested students should have experience or coursework in control theory, and ideally some experience with MATLAB or Python.

Current UofM students

Send me an email with your CV, transcripts, and research interests. I typically prefer working with students in a formal setting — that is, the student signs up for a directed study with me and receives course credits for research. If you want to work with me informally, please provide an estimated number of hours per week you are planning to devote to our research.

A list of controls-related courses offered at UofM is maintained here.

Prospective PhD students

Apply to the ECE program and include my name as an advisor you are interested in working with. I am happy to answer questions about research and mentorship via email, though it is not necessary to email me before you apply. More information about my mentoring style can be found here.

After PhD applications have been reviewed, shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation to meet (in-person or virtual) in January/February. Unfortunately I am unable to meet with non-shortlisted candidates.
